On this sailing trip we sail along the coast of Troms and Finnmark. Norway’s northernmost coastline. With 14 days, we take extra time to explore the fjords and outer coastlines in peace. Of course we hope to be able to circumnavigate the North Cape in good weather!
We would like to go on hikes, explore coastal villages and towns such as Alta, Hammerfest, Berlevåg and of course Vardø, our destination. On the way we will fish or snorkel for mussels to expand our menu. The nature and wildlife in spring is impressive. Several bird islands and seal colonies are on the route and you may even be able to spot whales… there is a lot to experience and the wilderness of the coast is… yes, wild.
We start from our summer harbor in Sjøvegan. In front of us lies the coast of Troms. A fantastic coastline with high, rugged mountains. The islands of Senja, Kvalöya, Rebbenesøya and Ringavassøya will provide us with magnificent landscapes and great anchorages for the first few days.
We will also spend a day or two at Ane’s family island with our reindeer.
We pass the Lyngsalps and in the Jøkelfjorden we leave the Troms and sail into the Finnmark.
The mountains slowly become flatter and resemble the well-known plateau mountains of the area around the North Cape

On the boat
Our destination is Vardø. The eastern cape of Europe, with the offshore bird island Hornøya. The island is an important bird island. Up to 60,000 different seabirds find their home here in the Arctic summer.
The waters around Vardø are rich in fish. That’s why you can not only marvel at birds here, but often also whales.
The route is adjusted along the way and activities are planned. We would like to remain relatively free in the preparations and also let the participants decide what activities to do on water or on land. Of course, we always have to take the weather and sea conditions into account!
